Lemons to Limoncello: Life is What You Make It – S2, Show #2

Life throws a lot at us. Do you wallow in despair or turn it around and thrive? Here are some some tips to get past the crisis, out of the funk, and make limoncello from those lemons! A “just us” show with Randye, Nicky and Diana.

Limoncello Recipe: (thanks to friend of the show, Theresa Tillinger)

15 lemons

2 bottles vodka or other grain alcohol

4 cups granulated suagr

9 1/2 cups water, divided

  1. Peel the lemons, and place peels into a large glass bottle or jar. Pour in one bottle of the vodka. Push the peels down with a wooden spoon. Cover loosely and let infuse for one week at room temperature, then add the second bottle of vodka.
  2. Combine sugar and 7 1/2 cups of the water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Do not stir. Boil for 15 minutes. Allow syrup to cool to room temperature.
  3. Add the syrup to the vodka mixture, and let steep for another 40 days. Strain, and add the other 2 cups of water. Pour into glass bottles, and seal each bottle with a cork. Let mixture age for 2 weeks at room temperature.
  4. Place bottled liqueur into the freezer. When icy cold, serve in chilled vodka glasses or shot glasses.
